Helping you create connections between
BRAIN, BODY and BEHAVIOR
“Success never comes to those who quit and our goal is to help you reach yours!”
Get In. Get Fit. Get on with Life.
Our Story
Ray Gray grew up in New York and attended Greater New York Academy (a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian institution) where at the age of 14 was introduced to Volleyball by Rick Marcellino and Dennis Diminich. Ray was already a 3 sport athlete (Basketball, Track, Softball) but quickly excelled in Volleyball, adding it to the list of sports to master. Volleyball was not offered or popular where Ray grew up so the ‘Grayhound Group’ came from the desire to provide kids/youth of all disciplines, backgrounds and socioeconomic status the opportunity to learn from the best and excel in both their sport of choice and in life. Immigrants from Jamaica W.I., Ray's Mom was a Nurse, Dad was a proud Janitor and has 9 siblings so helping others, hard work and literal fighting is in his DNA. Ray went on to study Psyhology, Occupational Therapy, taught for 4 years and is now a Qualified Mental Health Professional. GRAYHOUNDS IS NOT A VOLLEYBALL OR SPORTS ONLY ORGANIZATION! What began as a place to help athletes physically, quickly turned into conversations about Diet, the role of Spirituality and Mental Health; thus the Grayhound Group was born. Grayhounds train individuals to be sound in Brain, Body and Behavior. The Grayhound Group uses a holistic approach and is supported by a staff of Therapists, Counselors, Mentors, Trainers, Coaches and trained Volunteers.
Our Goal is, “creating connections between the BRAIN, BODY and BEHAVIOR!” Our Motto is, “If you can’t Feel it, you can’t Fix it!" Our Mission is to ensure individuals regardless of age/race/sex are supported in all areas by providing the greatest and most supportive teaching-learning environment that will equip and prepare them for all life obstacles and challenges. We do so by ensuring all staff are engaged in each of our clients lives, educated on our clients specific needs, equipped with the latest training/tools/strategies to help our clients find ways to change their own thinking (knowing that if you change your thinking your behavior will follow). Grayhounds stay relevant with the times/societal norms and uses statistically proven evidenced based best practices on all our approaches to improve connectivity between Brain, Body and Behavior. Grayhounds understands the relevance and importance of faith in one's life, welcomes and incorporates a Christian approach.
